![]() ![]() The largest contributor for these choices is the data in the Activity Monitor. I tried switching over to only use Safari, but had a poor and limited experience in Safari with Google things, like Docs, Sheets, Hangouts, and Gmail. I have tried Firefox, Opera, and even Vivaldi, but continue to return to Chrome-for Google apps/hangouts-and Safari-for most other browsing tasks. Dropping the brightness helps, too, but that's less a browser thing. Generally, the extensions and plug-ins that I use are minimal, unless they help speed things up (e.g., an ad blocker) or help with daily activities (e.g., LastPass). If I travel I found that Safari saves on battery life over Chrome. When possible, I close applications to release RAM. I also use Outlook, Slack, Dropbox, and Atom for work. While it does have 16GB of RAM, often things crawl when I have several Google Docs/Sheets and LucidChart open. This is something that I continue to monitor on my mid-2012 MBP.
